Kevin first put his degree in Fine Art from USC to use on a comic book. As creator, writer and editor, he collaborated through his studio, Magic Beans, Inc., with his creative team to output 6 issues of "Objective Five" through Image Comics. He then turned back to his training and became a studio artist and photographer. During that time he began to work in performance. After some stage and commercial work, he was made Creative Director for Naked Angels’ “Tuesdays@9” cold reading series in Los Angeles in 2009. Having watched both established and emerging writers and actors take chances on a stage with new material, he found himself most drawn to working with artists who risk their very lives for the love of storytelling.
He’s directed for stage to some acclaim, working with several writers. Most notably Joshua Fardon's Do Not Disturb at Theatre of NOTE, which garnered positive reviews from The Hollywood Reporter, the LA Weekly and the LA Times. More recently, he successfully directed (and produced) Joshua’s latest work The Condition for Naked Angels. He's also directed work at Echo Theatre Co. and at The Blank Theatre.
He has directed three short films, all with a large contingent of the crew from Bones (Fox), including his DP, Maurizio Dotto, with whom he is collaborating with on a feature or two. He continues to build a crew he knows he can trust and collaborate with fully. Both of his first two shorts have been screened at Academy-qualifying film festivals, his third is in post.
After shadowing directors on prestige network television shows like Grey’s Anatomy (ABC) and Madam Secretary (CBS), Kevin knows he fits in the episodic world as a director and has gained the understanding needed to make the day and deliver the show. He has an ability to communicate effectively with every department, brings his visual art background to the image, and has a love for actors and their process. All of this pointing to a long career of exploration in film, television and the stage.
